Blurbs
If you’re a self-publishing author, I can edit your blurb to help it attract the right people and convince them to buy your book. (Or if you want some free advice, check out my blog post about blurbs that sell your novel for you.)
When readers are looking for their next book, they’re making their decision based on a few short paragraphs. The blurb is your opportunity to show them that your book is the one they want, so you need to pitch them in a way that convinces them to buy it.
Professional editing for your blurb helps it do its job more effectively. In order to convince your target audience that your novel worth their money, you need to speak directly to them and make sure the writing quality of your blurb promises a high-quality book.
When blurb editing isn’t part of a full novel editing package, I charge $50 for a comprehensive blurb edit of up to 300 words. This includes developmental editing, line editing, and copyediting, in at least four separate rounds of editing. Longer book descriptions are priced individually and cost $50-$100.
I give discounts for blurbs and book descriptions as part of a full novel edit. I also give discounts on blurbs for novels I have worked on in the past.
Author Bios
In addition to a good blurb, self-publishers need a solid author bio that shows potential readers that you’re someone they want to hear from.
Readers are more likely to purchase your books if they have a sense of who you are.
And author bios are short, so it’s important to use that limited space effectively and get right to what’s important.
When an author bio isn’t part of a full novel editing package, I charge $25 for a comprehensive edit of up to 150 words. This includes developmental editing, line editing, and copyediting, in at least four separate rounds of editing.
Some curious readers will want to know more about you than what they’ll see on the back of your book. For longer author bios, such as an author page of a website, I price edits individually and charge $25-$100.
I give discounts for author bio edits when they are included in a novel edit.
